Usage of Credit Cards & Debit Cards at Fast-Food Restaurants Special Analysis
SKU
REPORTS-CREDITCARDS
This special analysis examines the usage of credit and debit cards at fast-food restaurants. This is an important issue because more fast-food chains are now offering their customers the opportunity to pay via credit or debit cards instead of cash.
Most major chains now offer credit and debit card payment options and it appears that these options are becoming more of a criterion in restaurant selection among QSR users. Credit card sales among both current and new customers could mean a substantial increase in sales for restaurant chains as average checks are often higher on credit card purchases compared to cash purchases.
In April-June, 2005, Sandelman & Associates conducted telephone interviews with a nationally representative sample of 600 respondents who purchase food from fast-food and pizza restaurants at least once a month. In addition to basic awareness, usage and attribute measures, respondents were asked a series of special questions related to their usage of credit and debit cards at fast-food restaurants. Those who do have a card were asked about their frequency of using it to purchase food from fast-food restaurants, how often they would visit a chain they now patronize if that chain was to start accepting credit cards, what proportion of their purchases would be paid for by a card, and how likely they would be to patronize a chain they do not currently visit if that chain were to start accepting credit cards.
The report includes a PowerPoint presentation of the findings with a bullet point summary of each key measure as well as an Executive Summary. It also includes Excel tables that detail all key data for each measure broken out by heaviness of QSR usage, chain types patronized in past month, gender and age. Trend data is provided for five previous waves (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2003).
This report can either be downloaded as PowerPoint & Excel files, or can be shipped in a spiral bound format.
